Export structure

You can select the metadata structure elements of the selected vault to be exported or select All Elements.

Important remarks

• Built-in elements are always created in M-Files by default. They include, for example, the property definitions Name or title, Created by, and Keywords. In addition to these, administrators can create user-defined elements.
• It is recommended to use aliases or GUIDs in event handlers and metadata card configurations. This is because they are exported as-is and because the metadata element IDs can be different in the source and the target vaults.
• The imported metadata card configurations are visible in the target vault after you either restart M-Files Admin or do a forced refresh (Ctrl + F5) in the configurations editor.

Export contents of the selected value lists

Select Export contents of the selected value lists to export all value list content.

Export users' custom display settings of the selected views

Select Export users' custom display settings of the selected views to include users' custom display settings to the export package.

Export workspace tab configurations for the selected object types

Select Export workspace tab configurations for the selected object types to include in the export package the workspace tab configurations of the object types that you selected in the Structure section. For information about workspaces, see Workspaces and Managing workspace tabs.

Important remarks:

• The export package only contains common tab configurations. Personal tab configurations cannot be exported.
• If the target vault cannot create a workspace tab, M-Files does not import that tab. This can happen, for example, when the target vault does not contain the necessary metadata structure elements.
